The Basic Ambulance Assistant training course is offered to individuals who wish to pursue a professional career in the emergency management services. Once the learner has been assessed as competent on the course, they may register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa, as a professional emergency care practitioner.

Course Contents – Learner Program Outcomes

An introduction to Ambulance service responsibilities with instruction in:
Professional practice
Traumatology
Emergency Care
Ambulance Technology
Ambulance Practice

Medical management principles and techniques will be taught up to basic life support level including methods of airway control, cardio pulmonary resuscitation and the Emergency first aid of critically ill patients.

Candidates will also be introduced to the role of Ambulance service administration, rescue and technical support service. Thorough training in medical management principles is the basis to care in any crisis situation. However, the job of a professional emergency care practitioner is not complete without organizational administration to deal with an emergency. Management services comprise part of the courses run at Action Training Academy, and skills learned on these courses will ensure competence and correct handling in an emergency.
